Parsons Public Library will host a book discussion of What You’re Looking For Is In the Library by Michiko Aoyama at 6 p.m., Monday May 4. Elizabeth Alvarado will lead the discussion.
The novel tells the story of Sayuri Komachi, a librarian who helps people find life-changing books that guide them toward their goals. The book consists of five interconnected stories about different individuals in Tokyo who are at a crossroads, from a restless retail worker to a recently retired man, all finding inspiration and direction through Komachi’s unique recommendations.
Aoyama was born in Aichi Prefecture, Honshu Japan. After college, she became a reporter for a Japanese newspaper based in Sydney, before moving back to Tokyo to work as a magazine editor. What You Are Looking For Is In the Library was shortlisted for the Japan Bookseller’s Award and became a Japanese bestseller. It was translated into more than twenty languages.
